Naos Flow

Real-time motion tracking sensor for rowing, canoeing, kayaking

Naos Flow® is specially designed for rowing, canoe, and kayaking. It's waterproof and floats if it should ever accidentally fall in the water. Compared to the Naos Classic, it features improved battery duration of 7-9h in real-time mode and has improved 4G connectivity. It can be conveniently attached to the boat with Velcro tape.

Measurements

GNSS:
  • u-blox M10, supporting 4 constellations (GPS, Galileo, Beidou, QZSS)
  • 3D position
  • 3D speed
  • 10 Hz sampling frequency
IMU / Inertial Sensor:
  • ST ISM330DLC
  • 3D acceleration, +-16g range
  • 3D angular velocity, +-2000 deg/sec range
  • 208 Hz sampling frequency

Use Cases

The Naos Flow® sensor can be fixed in any way on the boat. Flat on the top or anywhere sideways and inclined. As long as the sensor "roughly" sees the sky and is not covered by cables or equipment all is good.

Realtime Rowing Tracking

With Naos Flow® you can track rowing performance of multiple boats in real-time. There is no distance limitation between the boats and where you are. You could even sit on the other side of the planet and watch athletes live. This is especially useful for following competitions and provide remote support to the crews.

In the realtime mode we have optimized displays for tracking the key boat performance parameters such as cadence, distance per stroke, 500 m time. Advanced users can even track the boat acceleration in realtime, providing an extra layer of information for understanding and improving boat performance.

In-depth Rowing Performance Analysis

The webapp features extensive tools for the in-depth analysis of rowing performance. See all details of individual boats, create PDFs for training and piece overviews, compare pieces and boats between each other, and much more.

Canoe and Kayak Performance Analysis

We are actively developing flat water canoe and kayak performance analysis, too. Obtain stroke parameters such as cadence, distance per stroke, and speed. Measure boat orientation and stroke asymmetries.
